4th Kings Tournament took place from June 14th to 25th 2010 in Medias, Romania. ROMGAZ and the Chess Club Society “Elisabeta Polihroniade” of Bucharest organized a double round robin tournament with six top GMs: Magnus Carlsen of Norway, Ukrainian GM Ruslan Ponomariov, Boris Gelfand of Israel, the top Chinese player Wang Yue, Teimour Radjabov, the second highest ranked player of Azerbaijan, and Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu, the best Romanian player.

The 2nd Star Chess School Open took place in Bhubaneswar, India 22nd-30th May 2010. Martyn Kravtsiv took first place on tie-break from Aleksej Aleksandrov, Maxim Turov, Alexey Dreev, B Adhiban and Dmitry Kokarev after all finished on 8.5/11.

The Parsvnath Commonwealth Championship 2010 took place in 9th-18th May, 2010, Delhi, India. This event was open and players from outside the commonwealth also competed. Pavel Maletin finished first on tie-break from RR Laxman who took the actual Commonwealth title (according to the rules of the tournament), both finished on 9/11.

The FIDE Grand Prix took place in Astrakhan, Russia Sunday 9th May 2010 - Tueday 25th May 2010. The tournaments were held at Jermuk in Armenia, Baku in Azerbaijan and Sochi, Elista, Nalchik and Astrakhan in southern Russia. Prize money in each tournament amounted to €162,000 and there was €300,000 for the final Grand Prix standings. Aronian won €75,000 for overall victory while Radjabov took home €50,000.
With a draw in the final game against GM Yury Shulman, GM Gata Kamsky Wins U.S. Chess Championship 2010. He last won the title in his teenage years in 1991.
